As you can see, this old pig blog is wearing a new dress. The font is smaller than on my old theme, but it’s hard to find a newer WordPress theme that isn’t hard on my eyes. Never fear. I use the Firefox add-on called NoSquint, which lets me enlarge the font on any webpage. I think I got all the kinks out, but let me know if you see any problems.

Yes, my blogiversary was a couple weeks ago. I won’t tell you how many themes I tried out before I decided on this customized version. I liked one thing or another about several, but not everything about any of them. That Libra thing, I guess. 😉

I was laughing so hard at NaHoCleMo…I’m still laughing. I forgot about last year until I read the post. And no. I’m not going to join you although I did clean out a folder tonight.
And I like the new look too. It’s thinner–ha!–somehow. More serious? Good for you for trying something new. I can’t imagine not having my little houses.

I love the new look. I worked all day yesterday cleaning my house to prepare for Nano and I thought of you. With much reflection, I realize if I participate in Nahoclemo it would be much more productive for my family. 🙂 *shrug* maybe next year.

Love the new look. I’ve been toying with the idea of a change because I’m not techie enough to widen the theme I’m using. It’s SOOO narrow. I’m getting claustrophobic.
Tell me honestly, was it a royal pain to switch? I have fears that all my widgets will be messed up. (and it took me months to get them where they are now) Thanks!

Not as much a pain as I feared, V.V. You can test theme changes by Preview. Or for a real test you can register a new blog, make it private, Export (copy) everything to that new blog and test out different themes to see how they react. I don’t think there’s ever a problem with the WordPress set widgets, like Blogroll, recent posts, etc. But if you have special Text widgets you set up, you can drag them to the Inactive Widgets area and then reinstate them after you change themes.
Another thing. Take screen shots of your blog, or draw a diagram or list, so you remember exactly what order you had your widgets.
I know that sounds a little complicated, but it’s not much. First, just go to Appearances/Themes and Preview the ones you like.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I’m going to have to take the plunge soon, and I’m hoping it goes smoothly. When I’ve tested theme changes by preview, things look a little strange. For instance the headings are different sizes and my posts look warped. I can’t envision editing every post. Well, I just can’t.
I’ll check into your suggestions. You’ve given me a place to start. I appreciate it. 🙂

Yes, sometimes things look like they’ll be messed up but when you actually install the theme, they aren’t. Still, it’s safer to actually install the theme on a test blog. Good luck.
