Saw this recently, it’s wonderful. There used to be huge flocks of starlings on Brighton West pier before it collapsed even further into the sea following two fires. They were a remarkable sight.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIoL7FzdRQ4

Amazing! But I had to turn the music down on the YouTube video. Nice music, but it distracted from the birds, I thought. Now, I’m going to have to research this to learn more about why they do this. I’ve only seen this behavior live a few times, and on a very small scale. One morning, just after dawn, I was driving and saw a flock doing this over the middle of the street. I pulled over to watch for a while. It’s mesmerizing.
