About

I was born and raised in Indiana, but have lived most of the last twenty-nine years in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California with my high-school sweetheart husband. We have four sons and seven grandchildren.

Indiana and Central California are not much alike. Living in a desert/swamp area now, I will forever miss the dramatic summer thunderstorms and abundance of deciduous trees of Indiana. But it’s a trade-off; Indiana doesn’t have mountains or the ocean.

I’ve been an artist in one form or another all my life. For many years, I mainly expressed my creativity by drawing. Eventually, I began portrait painting first in graphite and then professional-grade colored pencil, with clientele in the U.S., Europe, and the U.K. From time to time, I’ve created a living art form by maintaining flower gardens. Beading jewelry was a recent artistic endeavor. Through it all, I’ve written, whether in the form of stories, novels, journals, dream diaries, twenty-page letters, my websites, blogs, or email. I write!

  1. Hi Linda,

Finding the time to write is probably one of the hardest thing to do, not to mention other things I enjoy doing in my busy life. This is why I bring a pen and steno pad wherever I go. It may seem strange to a lot of people, but most of our brightest ideas come to us when we are out and about, witnessing and participating in life, instead of sitting in front of a computer staring at a blank screen waiting for the creative juices to start flowing. Being a writer is spontaneity, and being able to record the thoughts, feelings, and actions at the moment’s time is what it is all about. Not later. I always like using the analogy that it is much better to eat a pizza when it’s fresh out of the oven instead of waiting thirty minutes later. I guess this is why Domino’s pizza is a great success sstory. They’re a stickler to that golden rule.

    Regards,

  3. Hi Linda!

You are in Fresno?!!! What fun!

Yesterday I was on Amazon purchasing several books about Carmel by the sea. Your book cover High Tea and Flip-Flops showed up, I love having tea and the colors made me click on the book. Hubby and I enjoy reading books aloud to each other in the evening. Reading the first sentence in the sample I knew hubby would enjoy it so got the Kindle version.

Reading aloud is slower but fun. We laughed and kept going, got through 10 chapters before bedtime. Hubby asked about the author. I told him I just glanced at your photo and that you lived in California. A little while ago we talked about the book and are looking forward to continuing this evening. I popped on your Amazon page then your website and thought the fence behind you could be Fresno. When I read a few entries on your blog it was mentioned you are in Fresno. It is amazing how many writers live here!

Great to have found your blog.

    1. Hi, Donna. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. 🙂 Yes, I live in Fresno, but so far, I haven’t used it as a setting in one of my books.

I’m so happy to hear you and your husband are enjoying High Tea & Flip-Flops. Romantic comedy is a departure for me, but I’m working on a sequel. Sorry, there’s not much real tea drinking in that book. There is in my novel The Brevity of Roses, though. 🙂

I took a quick look at your blog—so many beautiful photos. I’ll go back to read later today.
