Shhhh don’t tell anyone …

party

I’ve worked hard this week … I barely had time for Bejeweled Blitz (though I did score my all-time high of 132,300!) and Twitter never saw my face on a couple days. Why, you ask? Because I was writing like mad. It was one of those rare times when the words just flowed. Maybe … just maybe … I’ve completed the novel. I don’t want to say that too definitely because of that embarrassing egg thing, but it feels done to me. A few tweaks are in order, I’m sure, but nothing major.

So, now I’m going to relax. I’m inviting everyone to join me in partying this weekend. Come and go, eat, drink, dance, sing, play Twister (hey, Danielle, is it clothing-optional this time?) Look around the place … if this is your first time here or you’ve been too busy to stop by for a while, catch up on some posts. But most of all TALK to me. TALK to each other. But TALK people, TALK. This is a party! Yanno?

Sunday Stew

stewToday’s post is a soup, a stew, a mélange, because I’m thinking in bits and pieces. I love soups and stews, by the way, with a good, crusty loaf of bread. Unless it’s my curried lentil stew or my lemon chicken orzo, which I serve with pita. Does anyone have a recipe for Jamaican pumpkin soup? Ah now, I’ve made myself hungry.

A new high score: If you’re a Bejeweled fan (2 or Blitz) you’ll have heard a monotone, semi-robotic voice narrate that. 😀  Yesterday, I wrote 2,251 words in one day, which is my new high score! And those are edited words, so most of them are solid.

Dreams: I had an unusually active night of dreaming. Characters from my novel showed up, along with Goren and Eames from Law & Order: SVU, and literary agent Coleen Lindsay. Unfortunately, I retained only flashes of these dreams, so there’s not much fiction fodder there.

Molting season: Every year about this time my hair sheds … everywhere. I can run my fingers through and come away with several strands any time of day. I always panic, fearing this time it will all fall out, but of course, it never does. Or hasn’t. Oh, my.

The pantry: Why does it seem that no matter how full my pantry cupboards are, I’m always missing one ingredient for any meal I try to make? Could it be that I’m too impatient to make a proper meal plan and grocery list? Hmmm.

Well, now we’ve come back around to food, so I guess it’s time to wrap this up. Feel free to add your thoughts to my stew. What’s on your mind today?

When the wall comes crumbling down …

brick-wallExcuse the brief post today. I’ve been stalled on finishing my novel for a few weeks now. At some point, my mind erected a wall between me and my story. I’ve tried to force through it resulting in copious use of the delete key the next day. I’ve tried ignoring it resulting in many blog posts and the piece of flash fiction I posted yesterday, but no progress on the novel. I’ve re-read earlier chapters of my novel hoping to spark a fire to burn through it. No effect on the wall, but I did manage edits and revisions in those earlier chapters.

But yesterday something changed. I don’t know what. I was going about my usual day of writing email, replying to comments on my blog, leaving comments on others blogs, checking Facebook, Twittering, and playing a thousand rounds of Bejeweled Blitz when I realized something was shaking under the surface. The wall started crumbling.

So, today I’m back to work on the novel. Send good thoughts my way.
